  • Statement of Criminal Record Screenings Since GSAR volunteers act in a position of trust, all members must undergo an annual criminal record screening, complete with vulnerable populations check. As such, persons whom are under current investigation by a police agency, have convictions or have been charged under any Federal or Provincial enactment may be ineligible for membership. Statement of Commitment and Participation GSAR is for the serious, not the well intentioned. All Members in Training (MIT) and regular members must maintain a high level of participation in all club functions to remain in good standing. We ask that all applicants set out to commit to a minimum of two (2) years of service. That being said, participation in GSAR activities is strictly voluntary and as such, MITs and members may decline to further participate at any time. Statement of Confidentiality Via the nature of GSAR activities, members will--from time to time--become privy to sensitive information relating to missing persons or open police investigations. CBSAR's "zipped lips" policy forbids members to discuss details of lost/missing person incidents or police evidence searches with the general public. Failure to abide by this policy may result in criminal charges and immediate revocation of CBSAR membership. Statement of Risk and Liability It is important that applicants understand and acknowledge the inherent risks of personal injury associated with GSAR activities, especially those resulting from adverse weather and hazardous terrain. By submitting this application, you fully assume these risks and hereby waive any right to legal action against CBSAR and it's members/partners/sponsors in respect to any injury, loss, damages or costs arising from participation in GSAR. Declaration and Submission By submitting this application, you are requesting provisional membership in CBSAR as a Member in Training (MIT). As such, you must agree to undertake and perform such duties as required or assigned by an Incident Commander, Search Manager, Team Leader or other person(s) of authority. By submitting this application, you also pledge that the information provided above is truthful and accurate. By submitting false or misleading information, your application for membership with CBSAR will become null and void.
